  • Nail prep

When coming to a nail appointment make sure that you have no contraindications that could prevent the treatment from taking place.

When arriving at the salon you will be asked to clean your hands with warm soapy water. This is to ensure that your hands & nails are clean before the treatment takes place.

Please make sure you have let your therapist know if you would like any nail art in advance to your appointment, if you ask on the day this may not be possible.

  • Aftercare

Once you leave your nail appointment it is down to you to maintain & look after your nails until your next appointment.

The best thing you can do it keep your nails/cuticles hydrated!

Cuticle oil will provide moisture and boost nail growth while preventing the nail from lifting. By applying cuticle oil/hand cream daily this will help to extend the life of your gel nails, if not your nails will not last the 3 weeks.

When the cuticles and the skin around the nails become dry this causes the nails to dry out, this will cause the gel to separate from the nail and cause lifting.

This can also be caused from cleaning products and hand sanitizer.

Wear protective gloves when using cleaning products, gardening or housework.

Avoid using your nails as tools as this can cause chipping.

Do not pick/peel your gel nails, this will remove layers from your nails causing them to become weak.

If you notice your nails starting to lift or you break a nail before your next appointment please let me know in advance.

  • What is give me strength

Give me strength is used on top of the base coat before the gel colour.

It is used on the mini & full manicure.

This helps to give the natural nails a little extra strength and structure to the gel polish.

It is not suitable to grow the natural nails long.

  • What is builder gel

Builder gel is is a medium to thick viscosity and is used to apply a gel overlay to the natural nail to create structure and strength.

The gel is cured under a UV LED lamp, it is similar to the strength of acrylic but allows you to grow your own nails long while keeping them strong and healthy.

Another amazing benefit of builder gel is the effect it has on nail growth and health when applied correctly and directly to the natural nail. If applied correctly and looked after this product can last for 3+ weeks.

Unlike normal gel it is much more durable in strength which encourages the nail to grow without the gel polish chipping & breaking.

It can also be infilled like an acrylic nail.

When you come back 3 weeks later we remove the colour and thickness of the builder, infill the product to rebalance the nail and apex and apply a new gel colour.

It is perfect for people wanting their nails done all the time as we eliminate the removal process, nails are always looking perfect no matter what job or hobbie you have.

  • Why are my nails lifting / chipping

If you have a standard manicure, (not builder gel) if your natural nails are weak this can cause the gel polish to chip.

Gel polish is not a hard gel.

When the nails become dry and dehydrated this causes the nail to separate from the gel/builder and causes lifting.

Over time as the nail plate dries out the nail will shrink and shrivel like a leaf and the edges of the nails will lift away from the builder. Dehydrated nails do not allow gel/builder to adhere to the natural nail and the gel/builder will simply ping off. The natural nail will then become brittle and break very easily.

Lifting can also be caused from using the nails as tool or using strong cleaning products.
